PC Game. The cyber crime organization that attacked the Democratic National Committee (DNC) in order to influence the US election has claimed responsibility for the attack and has released a massive data dump of the stolen information.
"This is only a fraction of what we have," read a message on the leaked data dump. "If you want more, simply ask."
Security analysts are still trying to discern what data was leaked and how the breach occurred. Security firms said that the likely hack comes from a Russian actor or "customer" of the actor. The group behind the DNC breach is also "associated" with a Russian military intelligence unit, said CrowdStrike, the company that first detected the breach.
A second security firm, Flashpoint, agreed. The two companies said they believe the hack was carried out by the Fancy Bear hacking group, one of two groups with ties to the Russian government thought to have carried out earlier hacks, including a 2015 attack on the White House and the DNC.
US officials have said they think Russian intelligence agencies are responsible for the hacks. They accuse the Russian government of a broader attempt to interfere with the presidential election.
The DNC hack has been investigated by the FBI and Homeland Security officials. The White House has said it is examining how the hack was conducted and what information was stolen.

The US has moved to expel 35 Russian diplomats and has also ordered 60 days of sanctions against a number of individuals and entities. The administration is considering a number of additional actions, including expelling Russian hackers, freezing the Russian assets of a number of individuals and businesses, and a cyber response.
